One More Got Sketch? 105 Class Sketch Done!!

So, when I chose this layout from the sketches that we were given to us during the Got Sketch? 105 online class, I realized that although they gave us 8 sketches, I failed to save one of the two-pagers!!  Bummer!!!  But, on the upside, I guess I'm one more layout closer to having done them "all"! ;O) See there's two ways to "complete" something...you can always delete part of the requirements!!  Kind of like the dog eating your homework idea! ;O)

I did this page as kind of a companion to the Maui page I used for my Heart 2 Heart submittal last week.  But, I noticed as I was going through the pictures from our trip, we took hardly any of our last few days spent on Oahu and none of the group of us.  My sister went to Hawaii with us and by the time we took the hopper to Oahu, we'd all had enough of each other!! ;O)  Lesson learned the hard way!!

My husband had a shooting competition in Fairbanks last weekend so we made the 6 hour trek north.  I'm so glad to be home and able to peek at everyone's blogs and scrapbook again!!!  Nothing like a long rainy road trip to make you appreciate home! ;O)

Paper: Boom-Di-Ada
Cardstock: Buttercup, Autumn Terracotta, Hollyhock, Sweet Leaf, and Colonial White
Ink: Sweet Lear, Olive, Blush, Hollyhock, Buttercup, and Creme Brulee
Stamps: Extreme Happiness and Field Trip Alpha
Other: Hemp, Stickles, Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, Dollar Butterfly Punch from Michael's, Zig Pen, and Cricut (Title Spot and Border around sunset pic)

Heart 2 Heart #10...Maui 2008

This is my first project as a guest DT for the Heart 2 Heart Challenge!!!  I was so shocked and honored to be asked, I couldn't be more excited!!!  The work that I've seen posted by both the DT and the challenge participants has been amazing.  Plus, to make it even better, the challenge this week is to complete a scrapbook page!

I have fun making cards, but, mostly because they give you some immediate satisfaction.  The real reason I got into all this paper crafting and scrapping craziness was for the scrapbook pages...I love that they give you the opportunity to document more than just the date of the photos.  It's so important to me to remember the little things about each photo and in the case of Owen's book, sneak in the things that the pictures don't show like what funny things he says now that I might forget in the years to come!

The layout for this page came from the Got Sketch? 105 online class I took, so I can't show the actual sketch.  But, I thought it was a lot of fun.  I love the Boom-Di-Ada paper for these Hawaii pictures, it's the perfect color combination.  I also used my one and only creative idea (if you can call it that!) to punch one of my Martha Stewart corner punches all down both sides of a strip of paper to create this fun border!  I like that I'm able to create something a little bit different than what you see on everyone else's work.  It's fun to just use the regular border punch on both sides of the paper too!

Hope you all have a great week.  We're up to just over 19 hours of official daylight here (it never really gets dark though right now), summer is officially in full swing and we are having some amazing weather to go with it!!!

Paper: Boom-Di-Ada
Cardstock: Buttercup, Autumn Terracotta, Hollyhock, Sweet Leaf, and Colonial White
Ink: Sweet Leaf, Olive, Blush, Hollyhock, Buttercup, and Creme Brulee
Stamps:  Extreme Happiness, Comments, and Field Trip Alpha
Other: CTMH Bitty Sparkles, Hemp, Stickles, Martha Stewart Punch, Zig Pen, and Cricut (journal spot)

Last of the Hawaii Pages!!!

So, after months of working on these (well, more like 6 weeks), I finished the last of the pages for Shawn's scrapbook. They aren't prize winners by any means, but I am so glad they are done!

I didn't have a particular sketch to go off for these first two. Although, I think I did start out with two different sketches in Close To My Heart's "Reflections" book and then adapted it to make it work for my photos.

All of them, of course, use paper from the Boom-Di-Ada kit. This one also uses some hemp, letters cut with my Cricut for the title, hemp, eyelets from Joann's, Jolee's stickers, one of the owls from You're a Hoot stamp set, the smallest flower from Cottage Floral (for the owl's lei), and lastly the bitty pearls from Recollections. I just realized the dot above my "i" in Paradise is missing. I'll just add an adhesive pearl to that to finish it off. This is my favorite picture of my little man from that trip. How cute does he look in his Aloha outfit! ;O) That was definitely a great trip for a toddler.

This page uses lots of sparkles on the Martha Stewart butterflies, hemp, an arrow from Star Struck stamp set and hibiscus flowers from the Extreme Happiness set. The leaves are from Summer Posies paper flowers and the hibiscus stem thingy has lots of yellow stickles for some extra sparkle. I love that Extreme Happiness stamp set, it was exactly what I was looking for before I started this page. Great timing CTMH! ;O)

I used Sketch #28 published by Inspired Blueprints on August 17th. I crammed too many big photos onto it, but, I think it worked out o.k. For this one I used the Field Trip Alpha, more hemp, and various Jolee's Boutique stickers. This one actually went together pretty quick after I quit fighting with the photos. Owen is kind of the center of the world for everyone in my family, especially since my sister isn't supposed to have kids (She cracked her hip in 3 places and lost her spleen which is the basis to your immunity, in a car accident. Plus, she has a really bad back due to rolling in a school bus in junior high...she's a mess ;O)!!) So, these pages won't seem as out of place to her as they might to you! I looked up some Hawaiian words for the title and this one seemed to fit the best!

This final page was so much fun to do and use up lots of scraps! I was probably supposed to use just one piece of scalloped paper, but decided it was more fun to use circles from lots of different papers! I also used the Field Trip alpha again, Star Struck for the arrows, and the big hibiscus and leaf stamps from the Extreme Happiness set. More Stickles, more sparkles on the Martha Stewart punch butterflies, and some flower sparkles from Hero Arts.

Phew, I feel like I can move on with life now!!! No more Hawaii pages for a while anyway. I still have to do them for us though!

Aloha!!

I'm finally finished with my sister's Hawaii pages!!! I will have to take pics of the last four pages I did, but I will cram them all into one post as I am so tired of looking at them!! ;O) Thank goodness I started way back in July or I would have been scrambling to finish by Auntie Shawn Day!!! We typically celebrate on the last Saturday of October. However, we since we always do our pumpkin carving that day, we've moved the celebration up to October 24th instead.
This is another Inspired Blueprints layout, I managed to use their layouts for 10 out of the 13 pages I did! Not too shabby! ;O) I love their sketches so much, I thought it was a fun goal to try and use as many of theirs as possible. I think they are up to 30 sketches on their blog, so I've used just about half of them counting my non-Hawaii layouts. So fun!! This one in particular was a new challenge for me, I've never done my title in a circle before. It was a blast to try and figure out. ;O)

Anyway, as usual, I used the Boom-Di-Ada paper pack from Close to My Heart and Barn Red cardstock. The hemp is way old from my college days that I still have hanging around. The chipboard letters are also really old and I don't have the packaging anymore. I cut the circles with my Cricut and then used my corner rounder for the scallops. The bigger butterflies are Martha Stewart punches and the littler ones I'm not sure about. I stamped the chipboard letters with Spot On Backgrounds, Versamark, and Kaleidoscope embossing powder from Craft Essentials for some texture and sparkle. The tag is from Walk With Nature stamp set and the hibiscus is Extreme Happiness with leaves from the Summer Posies (retiring this year, boo!!). I also added lots of sparkles to the butterflies, Jolee's Boutique stickers to the tag, and a couple of Craft Essentials (Joann's brand) eyelets to finish off the photo corner.

Hanauma Bay

One more page down!! I just love this sketch from Inspired Blue Prints and can't wait to try it on a 12x12.
My layouts are getting simpler with every page I do for Shawnie's album, but I think sometimes that's o.k.. Again, I used Boom-Di-Ada paper pack with Hollyhock cardstock. The only stamping I did was with Charm Uppercase Alpha in Goldrush ink on Buttercup paper. I added real shells from the beach, Jolee's Boutique stickers, and a butterfly punch I've had forever that has no brand name on it with a mini sparkle for its head.

Rainbows

Once again, having visitors has put me behind. But, I've had the chance to do a little here and there during my two week break between guests. Unfortunately, I had to work different hours and managed to catch a nasty cold in the meantime. So, I haven't accomplished as much as I'd hoped. I had great intentions of wrapping up all of my sisters pages by now, but not so much!O.k., so the title is cheesy, but I am aiming to finish these in the near future and still have about 5 more pages to go! So, "Over The Rainbow" it is!! I did have a little fun though....I used The Works Alpha for the "Over The" and cut out "Rainbow" on Colonial White cardstock with my Cricut. I sponged Buttercup, Blush, and SweetLeaf ink onto the letters. I used Summer Posies, CTMH mini sparkles and a flower sparkle from an old Connections Club, Jolee's Boutique stickers, and Robin's Nest Dew Drops. The layout is Sketch #25 from Inspired Blueprints.

Nakalele Blowhole

I really struggled with this layout. It was tough to accommodate two portrait direction pictures on a 9x9 layout and have it look right. I loosely based this layout on the left side of the "Clear Dimension" sketch in CTMH's Cherish book. I'm not sure I love the my version of the layout, but I am still happy with how the page turned out. I can't get enough of these Martha Stewart punched butterflies!! They are just gorgeous...well, at least I think so! ;O) I also used my Cricut to cut the title, mini sparkles, K&Company Rhinestones (colored ones for butterflies), Cottage Flowers stamp set, EK Success Stick Tile Stickers, and We R Memory Keepers Flowers & Swirls adhesive rub on kit.

Tropical Plantation

One more page down! I haven't decided if I want to add any journaling. It seems like it needs something more in the lower right, but overall, I really loved this sketch from Inspired Blueprints and hope to do it again in the 12x12 size.

I continued to use the Boom-Di-Ada paper pack, the Works Alpha stamp set, Jolee's Boutique stickers, and Robin's Nest Dew drops.

Waikiki Sunset

I've been chugging away at these layouts for my sister's scrapbook and have finished quite a few. They are pretty simple, but, I've really enjoyed them! This one was a photo I took from Waikiki Beach on our last night. Hawaii is probably the only place I've ever vacationed that was hard to leave!! We try to go every year, but, this year we put in a fence and finished our front yard instead...so not the same!!!

I used Sketch #23 from Inspired Blueprints on this one. I continued using the Boom-Di-Ada paper pack, die cuts from the Serendipity pack, The Works Alpha stamp, bitty sparkles, and some actual sea shells!

More Hawaii Pages

Here's a couple more pages for Shawn's Hawaii scrapbook. She hopes to eventually run a marathon in every state, but we happened to be in Maui for the Maui Surf and Sand. Of course, as of January 2009, they turned it into a full marathon, but at the time it was just a 15K race. So, she'll be forced to go back to Hawaii later to run that marathon! ;O)

I used Sketch #4 from Inspired Blue Prints for this layout. I'm having so much fun with their layouts, I have a goal to use as many as possible for her Hawaii pages. The biggest challenge is that they are meant for 12x12 pages and her book is just a 9x9.

I'm using the same Boom-Di-Ada paper for all of her pages. I also used some retired Hollyhock ribbon, CTMH and Bazzill Basics paper flowers, Hollyhock brads, Field Trip Alpha, Journaling Jots, and both mini and flower sparkles.

Auntie Shawn Day

So, I don't know how many people have seen the episode of Sex and the City where Carrie decides that because she's not married and doesn't have kids, she's getting shorted on gifts. She has to buy for bridal showers, baby showers, birthdays and so on without being equally compensated. Anyway, my sister picked up on this theory and ran with it! So, she decided that there was such a thing as Auntie Shawn Day and it requires both a gift and a cake....she's always been a bit spoiled if you haven't already guessed!!! She determined that Auntie Shawn Day was to take place in October although, she allowed me to choose the day....lucky me.

This year, I got her a really cute clock from a local artist with a fun, goofy dog on it in bright colors for her kitchen (she's color deficient and as we speak, her kitchen is an electric blue color...its been fire truck red and sunflower yellow in the recent past....don't ask! ;O) ) Plus, I'm working on her Hawaii pages from the trip we all took back in January of 2008. She's not a scrapbooker and depends on me to fill her scrapbooks.

Here's the first page. Do you think I went a little overboard by chance? I wanted to cut the letters for "Hawaii" out of the photos I had taken of different flowers around the islands. So, I had intended to keep the page pretty plain, but, it kind of took off from there. I don't get to do too many girly pages!! I love this layout from Inspired Blueprints (Sketch #19) and will definitely be using it again, hopefully toned down some next time!

I used my Cricut to cut the letters, Boom-Di-Ada Level 2 Paper with a little Sweet Leaf cardstock, Extreme Happiness stamp set, paper flowers from both CTMH and Bazzill Basics, flower gems from an old CTMH Connections Club, butterflies cut with a Martha Stewart punch, and pearls from Recollections (love these sizes!).

Baby Book...Month 2

I started this layout so long ago, I can't even begin to tell you what site I took the layout from.  It's a little rough, but, I go...
